Joseph has already had a busy career as a flautist, performing all around the UK and beyond. He was awarded the Bardi Orchestra Young Musician of the Year for 2023 and performed the Mozart Flute Concerto in D with them. He has also performed the Reinecke Concerto with the Loughborough Orchestra and has performed C.P.E. Bach’s Concerto in D minor in London. In addition to these, he was awarded Highly Commended in the British Flute Society’s Young Artist Competition in 2025 and 1st place in the British Flute Society’s Young Performer competition in 2023. In 2025, he was placed in both the Royal Academy of Music’s Flute and Piccolo prizes and won the Loughborough Young Musician of the Year competition twice, both in 2022 and 2024.
As well as concerto performances, he is also in high demand to give solo recitals both in his local area and around the country, previously travelling to venues in London, Sheffield and Southwell and has worked as a freelance player in many more. He has recently been performing with the English Schools’ Orchestra in London as principal flautist and has previously been a member of the National Schools’ Symphony Orchestra and the Lincolnshire Chamber Orchestra.
Both in and outside of the Academy, Joseph enjoys playing in various masterclasses and has previously played to world-renowned players such as Robert Winn and Adam Walker. Joseph also has a strong interest in early music and has written a dissertation on the historic flute and its repertoire.
Joseph is a proud player of Miyazawa flutes and is delighted to be an emerging artist for them.
